Description
No. 78, White Hill is a tiny, 18th-century cottage that projects into the street. It is two storeys high. The front is made of ashlar stone, with random rubble on the side. The roof is stone-tiled and hipped to the north end. There are two windows on each floor; the upper-floor windows have wooden frames. The windows are sash and casement types, with intact glazing bars. A high projecting plinth is present. A two-storey extension is located at the rear, constructed of ashlar with a stone-tiled roof. The south front of the extension has one window per storey, with sash windows and glazing bars. A wooden lintel covers the ground-floor window, extending across the front. A central doorway is positioned below a wooden trellis. No. 78 contributes significantly to the character of White Hill. The property forms a group with Nos 1, 7 and 8 White Hill, and No 1 Woolley Street.
