Description
The G. Neale monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 1 metre north of the S. Neale monument, near the north-west end of the Church of St. Bartholomew. This mid-18th century tomb is constructed of ashlar stone and features two octagonal plaques on each side, along with a foliate decorated central pier and fielded angle piers. It has a moulded base and cornice, with a pulvinated frieze that breaks forward over the piers. The west end is adorned with a skull, bones, and an hour-glass. The main inscriptions are indecipherable, but there is an east end panel dedicated to G. Neale, who died in 1715, which has likely been reset.
