Description

Silver Street House is an early 18th-century building of group value. It is constructed with rendered and painted walls and has a stone-tiled roof with flat-headed dormers. The windows are wooden casements with glazing bars. The building is three stories high with five windows across the front. These are sash windows with architrave surrounds. There are blocked semi-circular-headed windows on either side of the central first-floor window and on the second floor; the first-floor windows have keystones and imposts, while the second-floor windows have keystones alone. A moulded string runs at second-floor level, supporting a segmental pediment over the first-floor centre window and triangular pediments over the side windows. A moulded cornice tops the building, followed by a plain parapet. The central doorway is square-headed with an architrave surround and a triangular pediment supported by cut stone brackets. The ground floor windows have flat, moulded cornices. A circular plate belonging to a fire insurance company is affixed to the wall to the right of the doorway. Silver Street House is part of a group with numbers 7 to 11 and 13 and 14.
