Description

The S. Guy monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 25 metres north of the north aisle door of the Church of St. Bartholomew. This tomb dates from the later 18th century and is made of ashlar stone. It features a large, projecting oval plaque on each side, which is flanked by fielded panels. The corners of the tomb are rounded and adorned with floral drops. It has a high plinth, a moulded base, and a cornice that includes a pulvinated frieze. The inscription commemorates Samuel Guy, who died in 1777.
