Description

No. 10 The Quay is a house with a shop that dates from the early 19th century and was altered in the late 19th century. The front is rendered, and it has a slated roof that is hipped at the front. The building has three storeys and is one window wide. The ground storey features a recessed shop front on the left, with a house door to the right that has remnants of a painted late 19th-century moulded brick surround. The second storey includes a canted bay window with four pairs of plain sashes and a moulded top cornice. The third storey has another canted bay window, which is off-centre to the right and cuts into the eaves-cornice, featuring plain glass at the front and plain sashes at the sides. The building is topped with a deep flat eaves-cornice that has imitation machicolations underneath, against the wall-face. This property is included for its group value.
