Description
The Old School House is a grammar school that has been converted into a house, dated "Free School 1684". The building is rendered and features a slate roof with a rendered stack that has a moulded cornice, along with moulded and coved eaves cornice. It is designed in a plain late 17th century classical style and has a U-plan layout. The structure is two storeys high, with a basement and attics accessed through hipped dormers. The façade consists of two outer bays that are advanced as wings, each topped with hipped roofs. It has glazing bar sash windows and one leaded cross window on the south elevation. There is a single-storey early 19th century extension that fills the space between the wings, featuring a coped parapet with ball finials, French windows, and a recut date plaque above. Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with winders, a closed moulded string, and turned balusters.
