Description

The Old Malthouse, now forming part of Wilcox’s Garage, dates from the early to mid-19th century with later additions in the late 19th century. Constructed of rubble with brick dressings, it features a double Roman tiled roof. The front west elevation presents two distinct sections. To the right is a two-storey portion with a segmental arched cart entry and two tall round-headed windows above. Projecting to the left is a two-stage tower with quoins and a pyramidal slate roof. The main section of the malthouse is located to the rear and is three storeys high, featuring five segmental headed windows with iron grilles. Internally, cast iron columns remain.
