Description
Nos 1 to 4 on Hanham Mills Road are two pairs of cottages from the 17th century or early 18th century, with Nos 1 and 2 being particularly notable. They have been altered in the 19th century and modernized. These cottages are associated with Hanham Mill and likely connected to the Avon Navigation Scheme from the 1720s. The buildings are rendered and consist of two storeys with attics, featuring pantile roofs and plain ridge chimneys. Each cottage has two windows, with two-light casements, while No 4 has three windows with late glazed sashes. The doors are plain, with No 1 having a wide door with a wooden lintel. Inside, Nos 1 and 3 include large beamed fireplaces.
