Description
The muster bell is a mid-19th century iron structure located in Morice Yard, Devonport Dockyard. It features a tall tapering shaft supported by four guy wires, a round capital, and a bell that is rotated by a spoked wheel. Historically, the muster bell was used to summon the dockyard workforce and regulate the working day. It holds significant historic importance within the largely complete ordnance yard and is situated beside the main entrance for the workforce, known as Morice Gate. Additionally, it served as an alarm bell.
