Description
No. 9 Bedford Terrace is a villa built around 1840 to 1850, located in Plymouth. The building features stucco with Gothic detailing and has a roof that is concealed behind an embattled parapet with a moulded cornice. It has stuccoed end stacks and a double-depth plan. The villa stands three storeys tall and has a symmetrical front with three windows. Notable architectural elements include a plinth, mid-floor strings, square hoodmoulds over the openings with chamfered reveals, and weathered buttresses that divide the bays. The windows are 20th-century 12-pane horned sashes. The central porch, which has a parapet similar to the main one, features an overlight and a pair of 20th-century panelled doors. While the interior has not been inspected, it is likely to be of interest. This building is a distinguished example of Picturesque Gothic design.
