Description
Church Lodge and Archway is a lodge for the Ashton Court Estate, dated 1886. It is built of coursed squared rubble with freestone quoins and dressings, and features a roof that is concealed behind an embattled parapet. The building is single storey and consists of five bays. The center bay contains a tall, moulded, 4-centred archway with a ribbed vault, above which is a band of blind arcading. There are two octagonal turrets with embattled tops flanking the archway, and between the turrets, the parapet steps up to display the Smyth Arms. On either side of the archway are single bays that feature 1:3:1 light oriel windows with ogee headed lights and transoms, along with a moulded base and embattled parapet. The outer bays have 3-light cross windows with ogee heads, with the left bay being advanced and the right bay recessed.
