Description

38 and 40 West Street are likely early 18th century buildings made of colour-washed brick with a slate roof. They stand two storeys tall and feature an eaves cornice. The front has three ranges of sash windows with wide flush frames, two of which have glazing bars. There is a central door with a moulded frame and six flush panels. Both buildings have shopfronts, with the one at No 38 showcasing bakelite cladding, distinctive Art Deco lettering, and a handrail. At the rear, there is a two-storey extension made of red brick. Nos 24 to 40 form a group.
