Description

This water tower, built around 1930, is located 260 meters west of Saint Antony's Convent in Leweston. It was likely designed by architect Maxwell Ayston for Leweston Manor, although it is now under separate ownership. The tower is constructed of concrete and features a conical copper roof. It has an octagonal shape with angle pilasters and a slightly convex vertical profile. The ground level includes a doorway with a polygonal arch, and there are three tiers of narrow slit windows that decrease in height as they ascend the tower. The top stage of the tower offers an open viewing platform, and there is an external timber winding stair. This structure is an interesting example of Art Deco design.
