Description

Nutford Farmhouse and Cottage is a mid-18th century farmhouse with an attached cottage, situated in Pimperne. The farmhouse is built of brick in English bond, while the cottage features Flemish bond brickwork, indicating multiple phases of construction. Both have tiled roofs with stone slate margins, and shaped brick gable copings with brick kneelers. A plat-band runs along the first floor. The building is laid out in an L-shape. The main range of the farmhouse has two storeys and attics, with three windows. The windows are 2- and 3-light casements from the 20th century, featuring glazing bars; those on the ground floor are set beneath gauged brick flat arches, and those on the upper floor beneath soldier courses. A French door is located in the wing. The central entrance has a flush-panelled, part-glazed door within a gabled porch. A length of 18th century brick garden wall is attached to the wing, incorporating a reset late medieval greensand doorway with a depressed, moulded 4-centred head and continuous jambs.
