Description
This is a row of six identical terraced houses, numbered 7 to 11, located on the south side of West Allington. The buildings probably date from the mid-19th century and are constructed of colour-washed brick, with pitched slate roofs and a coped gable end to the west. They feature red brick stacks. The houses are two storeys high with attics. Number 7 has a modillion eaves cornice. The first floor has six sash windows (those of number 9 have been replaced). Each house originally had a 19th-century shopfront, featuring a moulded cornice. Four original doors exist; number 9's door is six-panelled. Each door has a reeded lintel and a fanlight, with two being semi-circular and two oblong; the fanlight of number 9 has been filled with a metal grille, which is repeated in the upper part of the shop window. There are two attic dormers with hipped roofs, casements, and glazing bars. Number 9 has an elaborate iron bracket, which once supported a shop sign. A long extension built of rubble sits to the rear.
