Description
No. 23 Briantspuddle is the center house of a terrace and is believed to have 17th century origins. The building features plastered cob walls and a thatched roof, with a brick stack. It has one storey and an attic. The ground floor includes a modern glazed door, one casement window with glazing bars, and a canted bay window with casements also featuring glazing bars. In the attic, there are two dormers with casements, one of which has cast iron lights. At the rear, there is a projecting two-storeyed wing, likely from the 18th century, constructed in a similar style to the main block. The main ground floor room contains a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and jambs, and there is evidence of a second opening south of the fireplace, which may have been for a curing chamber, now filled by a bread oven.
