Description
The Rising Sun Inn, located at No 38 East Street, has early 19th century origins and was formerly known as the Royal Oak. The building features rendered walls and a slate roof, with rendered stacks. It is two storeys tall with an attic. The ground floor has a central door framed by a classical surround and topped with a flat hood supported by pilasters, along with two modern windows. The first floor includes three casement windows, and there is a small attic window in the gable end. At the rear of the main building, there is an outbuilding adjacent to the river, which may be older. This outbuilding has brick walls and a slate roof, is one storey high with attics, and features a casement window on the ground floor along with two half dormers in the attic.
