Description
Lower Farmhouse is a house from the late 17th century, built of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. It features a tiled, gable-ended roof with stone-slate verges and end brick stacks. The building is symmetrical, consisting of two storeys and attics, with five bays. It has stone mullioned and transomed windows with two lights, some of which still have their original leaded lights. The central porch is faced with ashlar and has a doorway with a moulded and eared architrave, flanked by Doric pilasters. A moulded string course runs along the building. There is a rear wing. Inside, there is a reset 17th-century staircase with moulded close strings, turned balusters, and square newel posts.
