Description

Manor Farmhouse is a house that likely dates back to the 15th century, with a west wing from the 16th century, an east wing from the 17th century, and various alterations from the 19th century. The building features coursed rubble walls with ashlar dressings and has roofs that are tiled and stone-slated, ending in gables. There is an ashlar stack at the junction of the main range and the east wing. The house is two storeys high with attics and has an irregular arrangement of windows.

On the southern facade of the 16th-century wing, there are possibly original stone mullioned windows with four lights and four-centred heads on each floor. To the right of these windows is a doorway that has a chamfered four-centred head and a square label. Other stone mullioned windows are likely from the 17th or 19th centuries, alongside various 19th-century casements. The north doorway features chamfered jambs and a hollow chamfered segmental head.

The east wing contains a through passage that is not connected to the rest of the house, with doors that each have depressed four-centred heads. Inside, there is a 17th-century hall fireplace with chamfered jambs and a reset chamfered stone head, along with chamfered beams and a staircase that includes some 17th-century balusters and a moulded handrail. The house is believed to have originally functioned as a hall with a northeast cross passage, possibly including a service range beyond, and a potential upper end solar and undercroft. The solar and undercroft were replaced by the current range in the 16th century, while the service range was replaced in the 17th century, when a stack was also added in the former cross-passage.
