Description

The Manor House is a house built in the 17th century and later in 1804. The earliest construction was likely for the Williams family, with subsequent work done for James Dale of Blandford. The building features coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and slate roofs, with the earlier section having a gabled roof and the later section a hipped gambrel roof. There are brick stacks at the rear of the later section and at the gable of the earlier section.

The main facade of the later section is symmetrical, consisting of two storeys and an attic with three bays. It has three-light 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars set under flat stone arches. A central glazed wooden porch with double doors leads into the house. Above the porch, there is a parapet with plain coping and a moulded cornice below. The facade also features three flat-roofed dormers with four-pane windows and a projecting 19th-century porch to the right.

At the rear, there is a two-storey wing with a three-window range. The ground floor includes two four-light stone mullioned windows with hollow chamfered details and square heads, along with returned labels. Above these are two similar three-light windows and a central 20th-century single-light window, with some leaded lights present. The central doorway features a chamfered four-centred head and continuous jambs, while to the left is a moulded four-centred arch gateway.

Inside, the 19th-century range has moulded and decorated cornices, doorways, and window openings, as well as an original staircase. The 17th-century wing includes a fireplace with ashlar quoins, a chamfered ceiling beam, reset panelling, and an 18th-century niche.
