Description
Nos 82 and 84 on Saint Andrew's Road are two identical houses, likely built in 1863 or shortly before, and probably designed by John Hicks of Dorchester, who was an apprentice to Thomas Hardy. They are similar to Nos 78 and 80, with a few differences. The chimneys are rendered, and ornamental tiles adorn the roof. Both wings have attic floors that match those of No 80. The doors are planked and have pointed arches, set in extensions that feature lean-to roofs and coped gables on kneelers. No 82 includes a canted bay with a pointed arched sash window on the ground floor, and there is a moulded string above the ground floor. Additionally, No 84 has a glazed conservatory located behind Nos 78 to 88, contributing to the overall group value of the buildings.
