Description

The house, now divided into two dwellings, dates from 1890, as indicated by the datestone "C M H AD 1890". It is constructed of snecked rubblestone with a slate roof over the ground floor, and rendered above. The roof has decorative sprockets below the eaves and plain barge boards. Parallel roof sections with double gable ends are linked by a central ridge, and feature rendered brick axial stacks in the centre. The house has a double depth plan with an outshut to the rear.

The east front is almost symmetrical with three windows. The ground floor has two tall windows with eight panes each and a central, partially glazed door, all beneath slate hoods with shaped timber brackets. A continuous slate pentice hood runs above the ground floor. The first floor has three wooden-framed openings with slate hoods and timber cills, also supported by shaped timber brackets. Two of these contain small two-light windows, and the central one holds the datestone. The roof sections above the first floor windows are raked at a lower pitch. The gable ends on both floors have two four-light casements with glazing bars, slate hoods, and moulded brackets. A door beneath a slate hood, matching that on the front, is found in the left-hand rear gable end. An outshut, a lean-to addition, was added circa the early 20th century. Cast-iron rainwater gutters and drainpipes are present, complete with castellated hoppers and trefoiled brackets. The interior was not inspected.
