Description

This listing describes a pair of tombchests located 1 metre to the east of the chancel of the Church of St. James in St Kew. The tombchest to the south commemorates Reverend James Read, A.M., who served as vicar and died in 1760, along with his wife Jane, who died in 1752, and their children Thomas and Judith, who also died in 1752. This tombchest is made of ashlar stone and features a granite cornice and a slate lid. The tombchest to the north is dedicated to James Read, M.D., of Tremeare in the parish of St Tudy, who died in 1800. This chest is constructed of brick and also has a slate lid.
