Description
Trevawden is a farmhouse, now used as a holiday cottage, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and cob, which is rendered and painted. The roof is covered with rag slate and features gable ends, with a probable kitchen stack on the left side that has set-offs. The layout consists of two rooms with a through passage, where the kitchen is in the slightly larger room on the left and the parlour is on the right. An outshut has been added to the rear of the lower kitchen range. The original partitions have been removed, and an early 20th-century staircase has been inserted in the passage.
The building has two storeys and presents a regular, almost symmetrical, three-window front. On the ground floor, there are two late 19th-century two-light casements and an early 20th-century partly glazed four-panel door, which is slightly to the right of centre. Above this door, there is a slate hood supported by shaped brackets. The first floor features three late 19th-century casements. Inside, the kitchen fireplace has been blocked, while the parlour fireplace has a renewed lintel. The roof timbers show that the bases of the principals are slightly chamfered, although the complete roof structure has not been inspected.
