Description

The Abbey is the remnant of a 16th-century building, altered in the 18th century. It is L-shaped and long, low in profile, constructed of unrendered rubble. The building has two storeys and a total of seven windows. The main block has four windows, two of which are on the ground floor and have label moulds above. A low, Tudor-arched doorway is present, with chamfered jambs and head. The windows are a mix of 18th-century double-hung sashes and smaller 20th-century wood casements. The roof is slate, with an irregular ridge line. Three large granite chimney stacks are a prominent feature. The Abbey, together with other listed buildings along the main road, contributes to a village group.
