Penrose Cottage is a small cottage built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed from granite rubble and has two storeys with one window featuring sashes and glazing bars. The cottage has a modern glazed porch and a hipped roof covered with slurried slate. It is part of a group that includes Dr Stack's House, Corner Cottage, and Treesdale, which share architectural significance.
