Description
This is a barn with a waterwheel located 10 meters to the northeast of Bearoak, dating from the early 19th century. It is currently used as a store and features a restored waterwheel at the rear. The building is constructed with high-quality masonry made of slate and granite rubble, with slate galetting and granite dressings. The roof is made of rag slate and has gable ends, with a lower roof on the left side.
The barn has a rectangular plan, with a 20th-century overshot wheel at the rear. There is a small extension from the mid-19th century on the front left, creating an overall 'L' shaped plan. The exterior consists of two storeys. The mill section on the right has two openings on the ground floor and a loading bay to the left on the first floor. The lower range is located on the front left. The overshot wheel at the rear was rebuilt in the late 20th century, and a launder is still present. There are possibly remains of a truncated shaft, indicating that there may have been an additional wheel that has since been removed. The machinery has been taken out. This barn is part of a group with Bearoak.
