Description
The Holy Well of St Cubert is a medieval structure, likely dating from the 15th century, that was restored in 1936 by the Newquay Old Cornwall Society. It is constructed of slatestone rubble with granite dressings. The well house is small and built into the bank at the rear, featuring a gabled front with raised coped verges. It has a round-arched doorway with a moulded and step-stopped surround. Inside, there is a sink and a plastered vault roof.
About 5 meters south of the well house is a screen wall made of stone rubble, which steps over a 2-centred arched granite doorway with a moulded surround. There is a small rectangular granite recess set into the wall on the right. The wall continues for approximately 3 meters to the east without coping and stands about 1.5 meters high. At the rear of the wall, there is a slate tablet that indicates the date of the restoration.
