Description

This farmhouse and adjoining outbuilding, located approximately 30 metres north of Ivey Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century, with remodels in the 18th century and likely extensions in the 19th century. The structure is built from granite rubble with granite moorstone dressings and features a Spanish slate roof with two levels, along with scantle slate roofing behind lean-tos. Dressed granite chimneys are positioned over the gable ends, with the left-hand stack being external.

The building has a three-room layout, each with a large fireplace. The entrance is situated between the two left-hand rooms, and there is a later lean-to at the back of the left side. The front wall of the original 17th-century house has been partly rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries, while the rear wall of the right-hand room is thicker.

The exterior is two storeys high, with an overall four-window east front. The left side features a nearly symmetrical three-window arrangement with a doorway centrally located, while the right side has a one-window front with two ground floor windows. The doors and windows are 20th-century additions, including a ledged door and horned sashes in 18th and 19th-century openings. The rear wall displays a 19th-century chamfered outer frame of a former mullioned window behind the right-hand room, and there are numerous reused 17th-century chamfered fragments throughout the building.

Inside, there are three large 18th-century granite fireplaces, with the fireplace in the right-hand room containing a domed oven behind its left-hand jamb. The first floor and roof structure were replaced in the 20th century.
