Description
The K6 telephone kiosk, designed in 1935 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, is a notable example of a standardised design made of cast iron. It is painted red overall and features long horizontal glazing on the door and sides. The crowns on the top panels are applied rather than perforated, and there are rectangular white display signs reading "TELEPHONE" beneath the shallow curved roof.
The kiosk is in good overall condition, although it leans slightly out of perpendicular. The internal equipment has been modernised. It remains in its original position next to the unlisted village hall in the centre of Crowan, close to the Grade II*-listed Church of St Crewenna, the churchyard walls and gate piers (Grade II), and the Grade II-listed Rakaia and Crewenna Cottages, with which it shares a strong visual relationship.
