Description

A cider house, likely dating to the late 17th or early 18th century, with some 20th-century rebuilding on its west face. It is located approximately 100 metres northeast of Godolphin House. The building is constructed of snecked granite rubble walls with dressed granite quoins, jambstones and lintels. It has a steep, half-hipped roof covered with grouted scantle slate, incorporating a few original or reused handmade crested clay ridge tiles. A kneeler stone is present on the left-hand side. The rectangular plan includes a doorway at the front (west), a doorway at the left-hand end, and a first-floor doorway in the right-hand end, accessed by a ramp. The two-storey west front features a ground floor window to the left and a doorway to the right. On the first floor, there is a window opening with an old 2-light casement to the right of the middle, and another blocked window opening to the left. A large 19th-century loading doorway is situated at ground floor level on the north face, above which is a window. The windows likely originally had timber lintels, as evidenced at the rear. The interior retains an old floor and roof structure, dating probably to the early 19th century. This cider house represents an early example in Cornwall and survives with minimal alterations.
