Description

The Innis Bible Christian Chapel, built in 1846, replaced an earlier building and is located within a burial ground. It is constructed of rubble, rendered and lined out, with a slate roof featuring crested ridge tiles and gable ends. The chapel is oriented with its liturgical east end facing west, and the south side serving as the front.

The blind east gable has a gabled porch with double doors in the gable and a 20th-century window to its left. The north side has two 20th-century buttresses and a single eight-pane light under the eaves. The south front, facing the burial ground, features two sixteen-pane sash windows positioned high in the wall. A rendered brick lean-to addition extends from the rear gable, with a door on its left side.

Inside, the chapel has a plain interior with a ceiled roof and original fittings, including a large pulpit at the west end with open-backed leaders' seats and benches. The land was previously a Friends’ burial ground, gifted to William O’Bryan in 1819. The chapel exhibits stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
