Description
The Wethered Shaft Headgear at Geevor Mine was built in 1911 and is constructed of sawn and braced timber. It was designed for a two-compartment hauling shaft that was established shortly after 1909, when the sinking of the new Wethered began. This headgear is one of only two timber headframes still standing out of the hundreds that were originally built to support Cornish tin mines, making it a rare and significant example in both regional and national mining history.
