Description

This is a row of 17th and 18th century shops and houses on Victoria Square in Penzance. The buildings, numbered 2 to 18, form three sides of a square, with former coach houses and number 18 completing the fourth side. Numbers 2 to 17 are two storeys high and have two or three windows each. They are stucco-faced with double-hung sash windows on the ground floor, which are generally three-light and contain glazing bars. The roofs are slate, with wide eaves. String courses are visible. Most of the entrances are modern. Number 18 is three storeys high with a rusticated stucco ground floor and a central recessed doorway featuring a cornice and consoles. It has a slate hipped roof. These buildings are designated as possessing group value.
