Description
The Cock Monument is a pedestal tomb located about 8 metres north of the chancel of the Church of St Gomonda in Roche. It dates from the mid-19th century and is made of granite. The monument features a square base with recessed panels and a moulding below the pedestal that has roll-moulded corners, along with slate inscription panels. The flat top has a scalloped soffit and is surmounted by a draped urn, also carved in granite, which stands on a square base. This monument was erected by S. Arnold in memory of William Cock, who served for 30 years as the Manager of the Great Wheal Prosper China Clay and Stone Works and passed away in 1866.
