Description
Netham Locks, built around 1809 by William Jessop, is a lock made of squared Pennant stone with timber lock gates. It features splayed entrances and lock walls that are rebated to accommodate two sets of lock gates, along with abutments for the canal bridge that spans the lock. The west side of the bridge has a coped parapet wall that remains intact, along with a ramped path leading up to the bridge from the east side of Feeder Road. The higher swing gates are supported by angled granite setts. Netham Lock serves as the entrance to the Feeder Canal and the Floating Harbour, which were designed and constructed by Jessop between 1804 and 1809.
