Description

A terrace of six houses on Lodge Street, Bristol, built in 1784 by Thomas Paty. The buildings are stuccoed with limestone dressings, with gable stacks and a pantile mansard roof. They follow a double-depth plan and are in a late Georgian style. Each house has three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with a two-window front. The terrace is stepped and features pilasters to a moulded coping. The left-hand doorways are semicircular-arched, with brackets supporting pediments, fanlights, and six-panel doors. Windows are arranged as 8/8 panes on the ground floor, 6/6 panes on the first floor, and 3/3 panes in the attic. Segmental arched doorways provide access to the basement, and dormers light the attic. Number 1 turns the corner and has a window to its left, as well as a 19th-century shop front on Trenchard Street. The shop front features a banded ashlar surround to paired ground floor windows with imposts, a corner doorway, a small pediment above the door, and canted first and second-floor corner windows with 6/6-pane sashes to each side. The interior has not been inspected.
