Description
No. 28 Broad Street is an attached house that has been converted into an office. It was built around 1730 and features brick construction with limestone dressings, although the roof is not visible. The building has a double-depth plan and is designed in the mid Georgian style, standing three storeys tall with a basement and a three-window range.
The façade includes a single giant pilaster on the left side, which is from a neighbouring building, and an early 19th-century shop front. Above the shop front, there are banded pilasters that extend through a first-floor string to a cornice and parapet. The shop front features a right-hand doorway with a rectangular overlight that has diagonal glazing bars, leading to a six-panel door. There is a tall plinth supporting three 6/6-pane sash windows, which are separated by panelled pilasters and topped with a fascia and cornice. The building also has keyed 6/6-pane sashes in flush frames and a segmental-arched basement opening on the left side. The interior has been largely rebuilt in the mid 20th century.
