Description
Highcliffe Houses, originally built as cottages for coastguards around 1850, is a well-preserved terrace of buff brick houses now serving as service accommodation for the Highcliffe Hotel. The main south front features a regular rhythm of paired windows and is highlighted by three gables, each two windows wide, that project forward by a whole bay. The windows in the gables are segment-headed, while those elsewhere are flat-headed, all with voussoirs made from the same brick. On the north side, all windows are segment-headed with red brick voussoirs. The building has a slate roof, and two of the five chimneys on the ridge have been cut down. There is a lower extension to the west.
