Description
This is a butcher's shop, built around 1890, designed by W and R Fletcher. The shop retains its original appearance. The exterior is characterised by green, yellow, and cream tiling, with a gold inscription on the doors. The interior also features green, cream, and yellow tiling on the dado, with white tiling above. A cash desk is present, featuring an arched wooden canopy. The fascia boasts a white timber cornice and a hipped roof covered in patterned tiles. The upper floors are in a Shaw style. A rectangular bay window on the first floor has a leaded ogee roof, set against smooth plaster strips. A dentilled pediment sits above the second-floor window, positioned against a tile-hung gable with bargeboard and tiebeam detailing. The roof is slate, with a terracotta ridge and a finial. A utilitarian flank wall is constructed from buff brick.
