Description
The piers, walls, and railings flanking the Advent Church date from the late 18th century. There are four rusticated gatepiers with cornice caps, three on the left and one on the right of the Advent Hall. Between the second and third piers, there is a dwarf ashlar wall topped by a wrought iron railing with spear-head dog bars. Piers one and two flank the rear entrance to No. 9 Terrace Walk, while the wall between piers two and three serves as a garden wall for Nos 7 and 8 Terrace Walk. Pier four is located on the boundary between the gardens of Nos 4 and 5 Terrace Walk, and it also marks the rear entrance to No. 18 York Street. The Advent Church was inserted into the wall around 1820.
