Description

Mulberry Cottage, originally Emberton Cottage, is an early 19th-century rear wing and former mews building associated with Emberton House. Constructed of limestone ashlar with a slate roof, it has undergone alterations in the 20th century. The building comprises three units, with a double-depth arrangement to the right-hand range. The front features a single-storey section and a two-storey range to the rear left. A parapet and cornice are present, along with a balconette above a six/six-pane sash window, and a basement area. A coped wall, approximately 2.5 metres high and stepped forward to street level, fronts the left side and incorporates wide 20th-century double garage doors. Two semicircular arches are centrally positioned—one providing access to a courtyard and the other over a recess with a glazed panel door. The rear of the courtyard features two window ranges with a coped parapet, cornice, and two six/six-pane sash windows on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
