Description
Clarendon House is a 15th to 16th century timber-framed building located at 1068 High Street, Judge's Terrace. It is two stories tall and features three gables. The exterior has modern plaster (Atlas White) filling and a stone plinth. Much of the original timber framing is in sound condition. The bay windows have been remade in modern oak, properly pegged, with new moulded wood sills and other necessary enhancements. The moulded bargeboards have also been renewed. The building has a new oak door that is a facsimile of a 16th-century ledged and moulded design. The roof is covered with Horsham slabs and has modern square lead gutters and downpipes. There is a largely original brick stack at the ridge. Overall, the building has been properly repaired and retains a similar appearance to that of the 16th century. Clarendon House, Old Stone House, and Nos 1 and 2 form a group.
