Description
Harvey's Farm is a house that was originally a farmhouse and served as a farm building until the 1950s. The building dates back to around 1650 and features a large extension from the 1950s, which is not of special interest. The original structure consists of three bays that are timber-framed with square panels. The north side has brick infill, while the east side has a mixture of brick and plaster infill, and the south side is concealed under brick and tile-hanging. The roof is tiled, hipped to the south and gabled to the north. There was a former external brick chimneystack on the west side, which has now been incorporated into the 20th-century extension. The house has two storeys and attics in the gable end. The south side features mainly 20th-century casements and a French window. The north front has an opening with diamond mullions in a slightly jettied gable. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a wooden bressumer supported by sandstone piers and an opening for a brick breadoven. The interior also includes a chamfered spine beam, jowled posts on the first floor, another chamfered beam, a plank door, and old floorboards. A winder stair leads to the attic, which has a roof supported by angled queenposts with collars. The attic features a plank door with pintle hinges. The building was formerly known as Quince Cottage.
