Description
Stone Hall is a Grade I listed dower-house of the Balcombe Place estate, dating from the late 17th century and formerly occupied by the Bray family. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring seven windows in total. The central section has three windows and two dormers, while the projecting wings each have two windows and one dormer. Constructed of red brick with grey headers on a stone base, it includes a stone stringcourse and long and short quoins on the wings. The eaves cornice is made of wooden modillions, and the roof is covered with Horsham stone slate slabs, featuring hips over the wings. The windows are casements with wooden mullions and transoms, fitted with small square panes. The doorway has a rectangular fanlight with small square panes, a curved pediment resembling a hood, and a door with six fielded panels. Inside, there is a contemporary staircase and older panelling.
