Description

Little Lywood is a house dating from the late 16th century, which was subsequently re-faced during the 19th century. The ground floor is brick, while the first floor is covered in tile hanging. The roof is tiled, with a central stack positioned off-ridge. The house follows a lobby entry plan and extends over two storeys with a gable-lit attic. It is composed of two full bays and a central, narrower bay originally used as a smoke bay. The first floor has three windows, which are casements. A central ledged door is protected by a simple flat hood. There is a rear outshut with a catslide roof, which obscures wood mullion windows. The interior retains evidence of the original smoke bay, including jowled wall posts. The building has group value. A detailed report (No. 2841) is available.
