Description
Parkhill Park Nursing Home was built by Ninian Borde in 1606 and later restored and enlarged in 1865. The building features two storeys, an attic, and a semi-basement. The original north section has seven windows and is constructed of ashlar with a tiled roof. It includes three projections with gables and four smaller gables in between, all topped with ball finials at their apex and above the kneelers. The windows are casement style with stone mullions and transoms. The outer projections have canted bays with two tiers of evenly spaced lights, while the inner adjoining window bays feature curved bays with five lights on both the ground and first floors.
The 1865 addition at the south end includes two gables facing west and a higher octagonal turret at the south-west corner, which has a pierced parapet and finials. The south front showcases a stone loggia with a parapet above, flanked by two storeyed bays. The interior of the house is entirely from the 19th century. The Borde family occupied the house from its construction in 1606 until 1787.
