Description

The Parish of St Mary is a medieval church located in Slaugham, featuring a chancel with a south chapel and north vestries, a nave with a south aisle and porch, and a west tower. The nave and likely the chancel date back to the early 12th century. The south aisle was widened in 1827, while the tower, which has an upper portion added between 1857 and 1860, is from the late 13th century. The south chapel was constructed by William Covert in 1613 to house his memorial. The vestries were added during the restoration by Joseph Clarke from 1857 to 1860, the south porch was added in 1879, and the clock-face was installed in 1881.
