Description
New Place Manor, formerly known as New Place Manor Hotel and Country Club, is a Grade II* listed building located on London Road in Pulborough. The southern part of the structure dates back to medieval times and is constructed from stone rubble, divided into two sections. The western section features three sash windows and one additional window, while the eastern section has two storeys and one window. The roof is tiled, and the building includes casement windows with two or three lights, characterized by four-centred heads and stone mullions.
At the south-west corner of the southern front, there is a small projection that extends at right angles to the main building, which houses a pigeon loft with stone pigeon holes in its upper portion. The west wall of this medieval section has a large brick chimney stack at its center, flanked by a three-light stone window and two small blocked rectangular windows with wooden architrave surrounds below.
The north wing of the house is an 18th-century addition, comprising two storeys and an attic with five windows and three gabled dormers. This section is faced with stone rubble and red brick, featuring decorative dressings and quoins, and has a Horsham slab roof with modern casement windows.
