Description

Brook Place is a fine 16th-century building, originally one house but now sub-divided. It has an E-shaped plan and is two storeys and an attic in height, with four windows. The building has a timber frame with plaster infilling, set on a red brick base. Some of the ground floor has been rebuilt in brick. The section between the south and centre projections is faced in ashlar. The roof is covered with Horsham slabs, and features three gables with barge-boards and pendants, the central one oversailing on a bresummer. Casement windows are present throughout, with the attic windows in the gables retaining their original wooden mullions. The south side is faced with sandstone and features a brick chimney stack with a crow-stepped gable. The east front is of sandstone and tile-hanging, also with three gables.
